Oreganol Review

Oreganol is a cold pressed essential oil that is edible and created from a collection of high-mountain, wild oregano plants. This essential oil is also known as oil of oregano. The pure Oreganol P73 version is emulsified within an extra virgin olive oil carrier.

To make oreganol that is safe for consumption, manufacturers use only wild Mediterranean oregano, which is pesticide and chemical free. The emulsification process creates an organic product that is a flavorful combination of oregano oil and extra virgin olive oil. High quality oreganol is made with only hand-picked oregano using a combination of steam distillation and cold pressing.

How Oreganol is Administered

Oreganol is generally administered by placing one or two droplets underneath the tongue. This often causes a warming sensation in the mouth similar to that of eating cayenne pepper or garlic. If this warming sensation of the oil’s aromatic fragrance is too pungent, users are advised to place the droplets into eight ounces of their preferred juice or water.

This acid is also used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, and according to studies conducted by Youn J. (Journal of Rheumatology, June 2003) synovitis was suppressed in mice. This acid is used in the prevention of immune responder cell activation and reduces fluid formation and swelling.

Thymol, as mentioned earlier, is often used to treat bronchitis and possesses many health benefits. In recent years, the medical research experiment findings from a University of Michigan Health Systems study determined that thymol possesses certain expectorant properties through active ingredients that break up mucus.

Oil of oregano is also an excellent painkiller, and when applied in droplets to a toothache, it instantaneously provides relief. It also soothes irritation and inflammation caused by irritable bowel syndrome. Oil of oregano also relieves pain associated with bladder infections and eradicates the bacteria that initially cause the infection. It also kills the bacteria that cause athlete’s foot and other such conditions when applied directly to the affected area.

Active Ingredients

Active ingredients found in oreganol are simple. Oil of oregano contains extra virgin olive oil, Mediterranean oregano oil, and P-73.

Extra virgin olive oil provides a multitude of health benefits within itself. This healthy alternative cooking oil contains vitamins A and C as well as a healthy portion of fiber. It also contains folic acid, iron, and calcium.

Mediterranean oregano oil is derived from the high mountain, wild oregano plants. Carvacrol and thymol are oils that are naturally found in high mountain Mediterranean wild oregano plants, both of which are used for bacteria fighting purposes.

Carvacrol prevents the growth of bacteria strains such as Bacillus cereus and Escherichia coli. It is also the ingredient that creates the warming sensation, the flavorful taste, and the aromatic smell of oreganol.

Thymol naturally reduces the bacterial resistance to antibiotics such as penicillin. It also fights common fungal infections which are known to affect toenails and fingernails.

P-73 is a protein and tumor suppressor. It has been known to fight cancer and tumor entities. P-73 is part of cell cycle regulation, in addition to its induction apoptosis. It was medically characterized due to the presence of various isoforms of this protein.

Antioxidant and Antibiotic Properties

Oil of oregano presents antioxidant and antibiotic properties. The thymol and rosmarinic acid are known to have antioxidant properties that prevent cell damage and lower the risk of cancer. Rosmarinic acid is also known to lower the risk of atherosclerosis.

As discussed earlier, the thymol naturally found in oreganol aids the body in fighting infection and aids antibiotics including penicillin in the destruction of common infections found in the body. Thymol inhibits growth of bacteria, and it also hinders production of bacteria by decreasing the cellular glucose uptake.

Studies performed at Georgetown University indicated that oreganol reduces infection just as effectively as many doctor prescribed antibiotics. A low dose of oreganol in droplet form was discovered to have effectively fought Staphylococcus bacteria. According to these studies, oreganol and oil of oregano have rivaled the effects of popular antibiotics including vancomycin and streptomycin in addition to penicillin.

According to medical research studies performed at the University of Tennessee Department of Food Science (Journal Food Protection, Volume 64, July 2001), oil of oregano and oreganol exceeded traditional antibiotics in exhibiting antibacterial resistance to pathogenic germs. Among the pathogenic germs used in the studies were the notorious E. coli and Staph bacteria.

As evidence shows in medical research studies, oreganol possesses pharmacologic properties against the bacteria Candida albicans or yeast (Journal Applied Microbiology, Volume 86, June 1999). These studies also implicated that this essential oil is a beneficial antibiotic against Salmonella enterica. Another study showed its antibiotic properties inhibit spores that cause Bacillus anthracis or anthrax (Applied Environmental Microbiology, Volume 66, June 2000).
